What is the biggest problem your clients have when recruiting?
The data and technology market in Europe is heavily candidate driven – meaning there are lots of firms looking for very similar profiles. Those ‘in demand’ candidates are a rare commodity and tend to have various opportunities at any given time.
What is the most important skill as a recruiter?
There are two for me which are critical:
- Listening carefully to what both your clients and candidates are looking for and fully understanding the brief.
- Tenacity. There is a lot of rejection and setbacks in this job so it’s important to have thick skin and not get to get disheartened when things don’t go your way. If need be, dust yourself off and try again.

What’s the most sought after skill set in your market at present?
Data scientists and data engineers. Particularly, individuals with experience working with cloud technologies like Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
