Automation Controls Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Design, write, and debug organized, structured, and well-documented PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications.
  • Configure, prepare, and integrate industrial controls hardware and electrical components for on-site integration.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate the functionality of control hardware.
  • Prepare and integrate cable routing plans and schedules.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on faulty control hardware and control systems.
  • Develop custom robot application code to interface with emerging technologies.
  • Integrate safety systems into automation cells, including estops, lockout fences, and robot safety interfaces.
  • Set up and test field bus networks, such as CAN and Ethernet.
  • Create technical documentation for electromechanical systems, including wiring diagrams and BOMs.
  • Prepare machine and work cell documentation, manuals, and spare parts lists as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and test robotic algorithms related to kinematics, dynamics, and controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in robotic programming and applications.
  • Proficient in high-level robotic programming on platforms such as Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, or equivalent.
  • Experience with PLC integration and programming.
  • Demonstrated experience in commissioning and programming industrial 6-DOF robots.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Python or C++.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (e.g., vision systems, palletizing systems, temperature controllers).
  • Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments.
